How pricing works
Every puppy is priced individually
Puppies typically start at $2,000. The final price is confirmed before a deposit is accepted.
Full AKC registration may be available for an additional fee based on the puppy and pedigree. Limited or Full registration paperwork is provided according to the purchase agreement.
Pricing may vary based on current availability and demand for males or females.
Champion bloodlines or particular lineage may affect an individual puppy’s price.
Coat type does not change the price. Long-coat and smooth-coat puppies are priced by the same factors.

What is included
Each Heartland puppy receives daily care and age-appropriate preparation before going home.
One-year health guarantee
Covers specified life-threatening congenital disorders, including conditions such as liver shunts, serious heart defects, and hydrocephalus, according to the sales agreement.
Current care information
Age-appropriate vaccination and deworming information, health records, and applicable registration paperwork are provided.
Daily handling
Puppies receive gentle, regular handling and early social experiences to help prepare them for family life.
Transition support
Heartland can help with feeding, settling in, basic care, and questions during the transition home.
Reservations & payment
A simple three-step process
No payment is required with the initial application. Heartland will confirm approval and availability first.

Apply and talk with Heartland
Share information about your home and preferences. Ask questions and confirm the puppy’s price and registration.

Place the reservation deposit
An approved family may place a $300 non-refundable deposit. It is applied to the purchase price and removes the puppy from availability.

Pay the remaining balance
The balance is due at pickup or before delivery and must be paid in full by the time the puppy reaches 8 weeks of age.

Personal checks are not accepted for final balances.
A puppy deposit is refundable only if the puppy develops a health issue while in Heartland’s care. Different options apply when a preborn reservation’s requested match is not born; see the upcoming-litter policy below.
Going home
Pickup should be planned early
Puppies leave no sooner than 8 weeks of age and only when they are emotionally ready to leave their mother. Heartland will confirm the individual puppy’s go-home date.
Final payment and pickup or delivery arrangements should be complete by 10 weeks of age. Without an arrangement, a puppy may be relisted so a home can be found in a timely manner.

If circumstances ever make it impossible to keep your dachshund, contact Heartland before taking another step. We will help arrange a safe, responsible solution and can welcome the dog back into our care when needed.
Heartland puppies may not be independently rehomed, placed in a shelter, or surrendered to a rescue organization.
The goal is to keep every Heartland dog safe, healthy, and loved throughout its life.
Plan ahead
Reservations for the upcoming litter
After pregnancy is confirmed, Heartland may accept a limited number of preborn deposits—usually one male and one female per litter.
Families should share their preferred sex, coat type, and color or pattern. If the litter does not produce the requested match, the deposit may be transferred to a future litter or refunded.
Illinois licensed
Licensing & sales tax
Heartland Dachshunds is a state-licensed Illinois breeder. The Illinois Department of Agriculture has authority to license and inspect dog breeders covered by the Illinois Animal Welfare Act.
Applicable Illinois state and local sales tax will be added to the purchase. Because tax rates can change and may depend on the sale location, Heartland will confirm the current amount before final payment.
